Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 21, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how trcr ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our network monitoring platform ("Service"). We are committed to safeguarding your privacy and handling your data responsibly.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored in hashed form). If you subscribe to a paid plan, we collect billing information such as payment method details and billing address.

Network Telemetry Data. The trcr agent collects network performance data from your infrastructure, including:

  • ICMP ping latency, packet loss, and jitter
  • Traceroute hop information (IP addresses, round-trip times)
  • HTTP/HTTPS response codes, timing, and TLS certificate details
  • DNS resolution times and returned records
  • iperf3 bandwidth and throughput measurements

Usage Data. We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Service, including pages visited, features used, browser type, IP address, and access timestamps.

Log Data. Our servers record log entries that may include your IP address, request details, and system diagnostics for operational and security purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
  • Display network telemetry data on your dashboard
  • Process payments and manage your subscription
  • Send transactional communications (account confirmations, security alerts, billing notices)
  • Respond to your support requests and inquiries
  • Monitor and improve the performance, security, and reliability of the Service
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud or abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Data Storage & Backends

Network telemetry data collected by trcr agents is shipped to the backend(s) you configure (Elasticsearch, InfluxDB, PostgreSQL, or stdout). When you use our managed platform, telemetry data may also be stored in our infrastructure to power dashboard features.

You retain full control over which backends receive your data. If you configure agents to ship data exclusively to your own infrastructure, that data is not stored by us.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or network telemetry data to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers. We work with trusted third-party providers for payment processing, hosting, and email delivery. These providers access your data only to perform services on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect it.
  • Legal Requirements. We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
  • Business Transfers. In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of the transaction. We will notify you of any such change.
  • With Your Consent. We may share information when you have given us explicit consent to do so.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Network telemetry data stored on our platform is retained according to your subscription plan's retention policy.

Upon account termination, you may request export or deletion of your data. We will process such requests within 30 days, subject to any legal obligations that require us to retain certain information.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS) and at rest
  • Hashed and salted password storage
  • Role-based access controls
  • Regular security audits and monitoring

While we strive to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
