About trcr

trcr is a network testing and monitoring daemon that continuously probes servers, services, DNS, and network paths using ICMP Ping, Traceroute, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, and iperf3 probes. It ships structured results to Elasticsearch, InfluxDB, or PostgreSQL.

Network monitoring shouldn't require a dozen tools and fragmented scripts. trcr replaces them all with a single, configurable system that runs 24/7.

Our Mission

Making Network Visibility Accessible

trcr was built by network engineers who were tired of juggling ping scripts, manual traceroutes, curl commands, and iperf sessions across dozens of sites. We wanted one tool that could do it all continuously, ship the results to the databases we already use, and scale from a single server to a global mesh of monitoring agents.

The result is a network testing and monitoring daemon that continuously probes your infrastructure — servers, services, DNS, and network paths — and ships the results to your preferred data backend. It replaces ad-hoc scripts and fragmented tools with a single, configurable system that runs 24/7.

5 Probe Types

ICMP Ping, Traceroute, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, and iperf3 bandwidth testing in a single binary.

4 Backends

Ship results to Elasticsearch, InfluxDB (v1/v2/v3), PostgreSQL, or stdout simultaneously.

Full Mesh

N agents automatically create N×(N-1) measurement paths with zero per-agent configuration.

1 Config File

Define all targets, agents, probes, and outputs in a single YAML file. Simple. No complexity.

What We Stand For

Our Values

icon

Operational Simplicity

One config file defines everything. One-shot mode for CI/CD, daemon mode for continuous monitoring. Systemd-ready with structured logging.

icon

Reliability

Graceful shutdown ensures data is flushed on SIGTERM. Capability-based privilege model means no root required. Built for production from day one.

icon

Flexibility

Use any combination of probe types and backends. PostgreSQL stores metrics as JSONB — adding new probe types never requires schema migrations.

icon

Scalability

From 5 free nodes to enterprise deployments with thousands of targets across a global mesh of monitoring agents. trcr scales with your infrastructure.
